By now, it’s no secret the Philadelphia 76ers are shopping Ben Simmons around the league.
Executive president of basketball operations Daryl Morey is reportedly looking for a “massive return” — one that would emulate Houston’s haul for James Harden.
The Rockets received four rotation players, four first-round picks, and four pick swaps in exchange for the 2018 MVP.
According to Kevin O’Connor, Morey asked the Spurs for four future first-round picks, three pick swaps, and a young player. The Spurs declined.
It’s probably an unrealistic request for a player whose value is at its lowest since being drafted No. 1 overall in 2016.
Simmons isn’t known for his shooting, but this season his struggles appeared to affect his mentality — he only attempted 4.7 shots in Philadelphia’s final three postseason games.
Some reported that nobody inside the Sixers’ organization has spoken to Simmons since his birthday on July 20, though a close source refuted the report.
His name might just pop up tonight, but it’s likely talks will linger into the summer.
